The City of Bessemer announces the launch of Gameplan for Growth, a 10-year comprehensive planning effort, with an all new website rolling out to support it.

Residents may recall 2020-21 when the community created Vision 2040, a thorough detailing of our "vision, mission, values, strategic areas of focus, and specific goals." Gameplan for Growth, the comprehensive planning initiative launching now, is a follow up to that effort: taking the what of Vision 2040 and developing the how — pairing the city's ambitions with policies and actions that can bring them to life.
It's a gameplan, so to speak, laying out strategies for Bessemer's growth policy, transportation, infrastructure, public services, and preservation.
"If we’re to become a championship city," says the website, "it’s going to take teamwork. What can we do together to overcome our challenges? How can we invest our talents and resources to build a stronger, more prosperous community?"
An Online Hub
The website features an overview of the process, news on its latest developments, upcoming opportunities for community input — both online and in person — and supporting materials and plan drafts as they emerge. Residents are encouraged to take a look around, learn more, share information with neighbors, and involve themselves in the process as it unfolds.
